The Health Care Assistant Certificate of Credit is a program that provides academic foundations at the diploma level in communications, mathematics, and human relations, as well as technical fundamentals. Program graduates are trained in the underlying fundamentals of health care delivery and are well prepared for employment and subsequent upward mobility into one of many areas of specialization such as Central Sterile Supply Processing Technician, Medical Coding/Insurance Data Entry, Medical Front Office, Phlebotomy, Nurse Aide, and Patient Care Technician. The Central Sterile Processing Technician specialization is designed to provide entry-level training that will prepare graduates to function in the sterile supply processing and distribution areas of healthcare facilities
The Medical Coding/Insurance Data Entry specialization offers the student an introduction to medical coding and prepares individuals for careers in medical offices and hospitals.
The Medical Front Office specialization is designed to provide the educational opportunities to individuals that will enable them to obtain the knowledge and skills necessary to secure an entry level position as a receptionist in a physician’s office, hospital, clinic, or other related areas.
The Phlebotomy specialization is designed to provide entry-level training that will prepare graduates to collect blood and process blood and body fluids.
The Nurse Aide specialization prepares students to care for patients in various settings including general medical and surgical hospitals, nursing care facilities, community care facilities for the elderly, and home health care services. Satisfactory completion of all program courses entitles students to participate in the National Nurse Aide Assessment program (NNAAP) examination and certification process. This will allow them to become eligible to be enrolled in the state nurse aide registry. Employers will require candidates to be a Certified Nurse Aide.

The Patient Care Technician specialization tracks to the Practical Nursing diploma program.
The Patient Care Technician specialization is designed to expand the skills and knowledge of Certified Nurse Aides (CNAs) working within various healthcare settings. Topics covered include Patient Care; Compliance, Safety, & Professional Responsibility; Infection Control; Phlebotomy; and EKG.
